I have seen a lot of folks who are exploring the ZOOM feature on Midjourney, and that is awesome. I want to help you up your ZOOM game when it comes to getting the most controlled benefit from the prompting.

From the initial render, I chose the 4th image (Image 2). The rest looked like a blender, a French press with coffee beans and some space age camping carafe.

I then chose [ Make Square ] for Image 3…

… and ZOOMed out for Image 4.

Now, this is where I modified the controls by adjusting the parameter. When you choose [ Custom Zoom ], the ability to adjust the parameter pops up so you can set your zoom amount. Also, you can modify your prompt. The prompt will be an exact copy of what I started with, but with different modifications based on choices made. For instance, it will show an aspect ratio of 1:1 (because I made it square). The same way I modified the image by choosing to make it square, can be modified in prompt.

What you will notice, is that Midjourney applied the entire prompt all over again in this render. Yes, it gave me the 3:2 ratio zoom – but it also gave me another carafe in the woods – closer to the viewer. I have seen a lot of the ZOOMs being shared where the user is simply re-running the zoom, because every 3rd image, you are seeing a repeat of the requested visual you started with. To avoid the repeat, remove the things you do not want, and modify the prompt for what should be in the NEW prompt render. For instance…

Note, in this image where I managed the ZOOM output, it provides a setting of the woods – with original carafe in the background (not another one added randomly in the visual). Take control of your prompting for greater results!
