What’s your name and how would you describe your work in generative AI?

My name is Manuela Sissa, but everyone calls me Six. 😀

My work in generative AI is a journey that has two paths. One professional and one private. Professionally, as Head of Campaign & Ui design at kettydo+ the research of innovative tools and technologies lead me to offer our clients new creative experiences that create engagement with users and customers to build brand loyalty. In this sense, AI is one more tool we have at our disposal. For Mulino Bianco, we experimented both on the first of the year and during the first day of summer with using ai precisely in this sense, and the results we got are really important. Also, in our work, using generative ai helps us optimize a whole series of processes to be able to have more time to devote to the idea, to the concept.

Personally, however, I use it to create a new concept of “art.” Mainly related to the world of women and fashion, my great passions. A new tool, of incredible power, that gives the possibility, through words, to be able to create what your mind makes you see. One of my dreams is to create a fashion collection with Midjourney and to physically see it on the runway. Maybe someday…

How did you first become interested in AI?

Almost a year ago. In August 2022, while I was on vacation and looking at LinkedIn, I saw an image posted by Carlos Paboudjian, an amazing image of a dress, which I had never seen. It hit me, like a bolt of lightning. Reading his post I discovered Midjourney, and a few minutes later I had it installed and started to understand how it worked. From there my love for this technology was born.

Can you share with us your journey into the world of AI artistry? (When did you start, what inspired you, etc.)

That’s how it all started, seeing an image. I immediately understood the power of this technology and the importance of knowing how to use it. So I started to learn about it, to make it useful for me and for my work. I joined AI/CC just in August last year when there were still a few of us, and I found a community of great professionals united by curiosity and a willingness to learn. Fundamental for me was this transition. Every day my creative and visionary potential grew and grew more and more. I believe I have the ability to visualize whatever my mind wants. And that is priceless. I haven’t felt this accomplished in years. I am inspired by anything. Mainly related to the world of art, fashion and beauty. I would say those are themes that I try to explore all the time. And the community that always gives me new insights and knowledge does the same.

What is your favorite piece(s) that you’ve created and why?

Eh this is difficult. I don’t know if I can give you just one. 😀 Every trip is different and I like it for different reasons. If I have to tell you one though, it is the image of a geisha. It combines 3 of my great passions, women, fashion, and Japan.

Can you share a bit about your creative process? How do you approach a new project or piece?

I get inspired by what’s around me. Or by what I’ve read, seen in a TV series, heard in song. It depends on how I am at that moment and what struck me the most. Divero is the professional approach. We tend to co create with clients different possibilities. And from there we go into exploration, into new ways of storytelling a product or service.

Which AI platforms and tools do you primarily use in your work?

Chat GPT, Midjourney and Adobi.

On a scale of 1-5, how would you rate your level of expertise in AI artistry?

4

What challenges have you faced in your journey and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge is getting people to understand the power of this new technology. Explaining it to both insiders and people like my mom who are unaware but read big headlines, sometimes not in favor of AI.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their journey in generative AI artistry?

To be open-minded. To try, to play and to experiment. We have a great opportunity. Let us know it instead of remaining ignorant. Let’s understand how it works, what it can be used for, and how it could improve everyone’s professional and personal experience.
