• String art image (aka “nail and thread art’ of hammered nails into a base to form an outline with thin, brightly colored thread woven around the nails) forming a portrait of a face. Art in the style of Kumi Yamashita. –ar 2:3

The art fad re-popularized by Pinterest, involved hammering skinny nails into a wooden base, and tediously wrapping threads around the nail heads to craft images. The artist Kumi Yamashita took that to a whole new level with creating photo-real portraits with this technique. Referencing her name and the technique (with subtle description) within Midjourney, produces some art styling of its own.

I also took the prompt into SDXL and generated the collection of renders. SD tends to focus more on the threads. Interesting styling and a totally different look.

1 • Which do you prefer – and why?
2 • Look up Kumi Yamashita and see her explorations both with fiber arts and shadow play. Brilliant creative. https://lnkd.in/gb9iArZg
