(using the –weird parameter in Midjourney)
Just shortly after 5.2 made its debut in the Midjourney world, a new thing was introduced to the parameter set of prompting… and it was a little weird. No literally, it is a parameter in the prompt toolbox for Midjourney called –weird. It has a range of 0 to 3000 (where 0 is your Midjourney renders just as you have come to expect them, and 3000… well, let’s just say MJ add a lot of quirk to the results.
I have attached 2 prompts that vary the weight of WEIRD-ness applied so you can have a better sense of what it does. With photo-styled images, the results go ‘off the reservation’ quickly… but what I found works really well this parameter applied – is when you want that careless, childlike quality to a drawing / doodle.
Take for instance:
• Sumi-e ink drawing, dragon, doodle, white background –weird 0 –style raw
Then, give it a try with a –weird 3000 factor applied. It goes from pro level results, to something a typical 6th grader might doodle in his notebook at school.
Give –weird a try… you just might find you like it.
